QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for the Information Technology Specialist position will possess a high school diploma, supplemented by relevant college or technical school coursework in computer technology, along with documented training in computer hardware, software, and network troubleshooting and repair. A , Network , Security , or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) certifications are strongly recommended. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to travel between school sites. Successful experience in IT support roles, especially in educational environments, is preferred. Strong communication skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently are essential.

 

DESCRIPTION

The Information Technology Specialist is responsible for maintaining the school division’s technology infrastructure, including the installation, repair, and upkeep of computer systems, software, and peripheral devices. The position ensures technology systems are operational to support both instructional and administrative functions. The specialist also provides training and support to staff and administrators and assists with student intern development and device repair coordination.

 

GENERAL DUTIES (May not include all duties performed)

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot classroom technology and computer hardware/software systems
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on devices including computers, Chromebooks, and accessories
  • Provide onsite technical support to end users across the division
  • Offer training and mentorship to administrators, staff, and student interns on device and software use
  • Maintain and support computer labs and classroom technology in optimal working condition
  • Track and resolve all IT service tickets through the division’s ticketing system
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current educational technology and trends
  • Assist in inventory management and recordkeeping for technology devices and repairs
  • Perform quality control checks on technology systems and equipment
  • Respond to technology emergencies as needed
  • Perform other IT-related duties as assigned

 

SUPERVISION

This position reports directly to the Supervisor of Technology. It may also provide guidance to student interns at the high school level and work in coordination with school-based staff and technology team members.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

The Information Technology Specialist primarily works in school buildings and district offices, occasionally in classroom and lab settings. This role involves sitting, walking, or standing for extended periods, frequent lifting and transporting of equipment (up to 50 lbs), and requires regular travel between sites. The role demands flexibility to respond to urgent technical issues and strong organizational and problem-solving skills to manage multiple service requests efficiently. The work environment is dynamic, collaborative, and fast-paced, requiring both technical proficiency and excellent interpersonal communication.

12 months

 

Salary : $59,729 - $94,729
