Qualifications
Required:
Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or related field.
Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
Ohio Department of Education licensure (Pupil Services Permit/License) or the ability to obtain as required.
Experience conducting FBAs, developing BIPs, and supporting students with challenging behaviors.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
Experience in educational or school-based settings.
Knowledge of IDEA, special education requirements, and positive behavior supports.
Training in crisis intervention and safety procedures (e.g., CPI).
General Description:
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides behavioral assessment, intervention planning, consultation, training, and support to students, staff, and families within the Southern Ohio ESC Region. The BCBA plays a critical role in promoting positive student outcomes by implementing evidence-based behavioral practices, supporting individualized education programs (IEPs), and building staff capacity to manage challenging behaviors effectively.
Essential Functions:
Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and develop individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) aligned with student IEPs.
Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success.
Provide modeling, coaching, and consultation for staff to ensure fidelity in implementing behavioral strategies.
Collect, analyze, and interpret behavioral data to monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
Design and oversee behavior support plans rooted in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.
Deliver professional development and training sessions for staff on behavior management, crisis prevention, and de-escalation strategies.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations regarding special education and student services.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, progress monitoring, and services provided.
Participate as a member of IEP teams, providing expertise in behavioral supports and data-driven decision making.
Support program development and continuous improvement initiatives within the Region.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Southern Ohio Educational Service Center policies and regulations, names of district superintendents, district contact persons and staff, public relations, State Department of Education Office for Exceptional Children Model Policies and Procedures, State and Federal Special Education Rules and Regulations, and best practices in intervention with students with disabilities.
Ability to:
Assess, consult, problem solve and develop interventions; interpret policies, procedures, and regulations; follow instructions; communicate effectively; maintain files and records; collect data; prepare required reports; demonstrate a positive relationship with staff; promote a favorable image in the best interests of the Southern Ohio Educational Service Center; accept and request assistance when situations warrant; lift/move eighty (80) pounds.
