Company Description HOPESS (Homes of Personal Enrichment and Sobriety Services) supports individuals in overcoming substance use challenges and building a foundation for lasting recovery. The organization offers a full continuum of care, including residential treatment and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) services, tailored to meet people at different stages of their recovery journey. HOPESS uses a person-centered, evidence-based approach that integrates case management, life skills development, relapse prevention, and community reintegration support. The team serves both General Mental Health (GMH) and Serious Mental Illness (SMI) populations and partners with community organizations to create a seamless path to care. Guided by compassion, accountability, and support, HOPESS focuses on rebuilding lives, restoring hope, and creating opportunities for long-term success.
Role Description The Intake Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Phoenix, AZ, responsible for welcoming new clients and guiding them through the intake and admission process. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting initial screenings, gathering demographic, clinical, and insurance information, explaining program services and expectations, and ensuring all required forms and consents are accurately completed. The role coordinates with clinical and case management staff to schedule assessments and services, verifies eligibility and benefits, and updates electronic records to maintain accurate and timely documentation. The Intake Coordinator responds to phone, email, and in-person inquiries, provides compassionate support to clients and families, and collaborates with community partners and referral sources to promote a smooth transition into care. The position requires consistent adherence to confidentiality standards, regulatory requirements, and agency policies.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication and active listening.
  • Candidates should possess Customer Service skills, with the ability to provide empathetic, professional support to clients and families.
  • Candidates should possess Case Management-related skills, such as coordinating services, managing referrals, and supporting care transitions.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of Medical Terminology to accurately document and relay clinical information.
  • Candidates should possess Insurance-related skills, including understanding coverage, verifying benefits, and navigating authorization processes.
  • Additional beneficial qualifications include experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment settings, familiarity with electronic health records (EHR), and strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in social services, psychology, healthcare, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, maintain strict confidentiality, and demonstrate cultural humility when serving diverse populations.
