Job description:
We compassionate and dedicated Adoption Social Worker to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in the adoption process, working closely with pregnant individuals and families to learn about the process of adoption and placement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work and experience in child welfare, particularly in adoption and working with individuals with diverse socio-economic needs.
Duties
Provide guidance and support to families throughout the adoption process, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
Assist biological families/parents in connecting with social support programs including Medicaid, health services, SNAP and other programs
Explore open adoption with families
Collaborate with child protective services and other agencies to ensure the best interests of the child are prioritized.
Coordinate with hospital staff for care and discharge
Provide reunification services for adoptees
Provide individual therapy to adoptive parents, adoptees and birth parents
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to each case, adhering to confidentiality standards.
Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in social work and adoption.
Requirements:
Master's degree in social work or related field.
Experience working with children and families, particularly in child welfare or childcare settings.
Knowledge of adoption processes and regulations.
Familiarity with child protective services and resources available for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
