Summary
We are seeking a passionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at Hope Valley Health & Wellness in Wasilla Alaska. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to our mission of delivering transformative mental health care through evidence-based practices and holistic therapies.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as a mentor to clients to promote decision-making, empowerment, and engagement.
- Liaison between clients, the clinical team, and community resources.
- Provides peer support to clinically complex clients, drawing on common experiences.
- Provides peer support related to treatment.
- Assists clients to meet individual social needs and provide support to clients for success in maintaining sobriety.
- Acts as a role model for clients by sharing effective coping techniques and self-help strategies in promoting personal growth and development handling internal and external stressors.
- Work with clients to connect them to community resources such as employment, housing, education, and activities that promote recovery.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Certification as a peer specialist required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- One or more experience working in behavioral health settings preferred.
- Understanding general addiction, other substance related problems, and available treatment options.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
- Must have a current TB test or chest x-ray.
- Must have and maintain a valid Alaska driver’s license, clean driving record, and maintain personal auto insurance coverage.
- Experience in electronic charting preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA and CFR-42 client confidentiality regulations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work well and quickly under pressure both individually and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills with superior attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills
