POSITION SUMMARY:
This hands-on position reports directly to and works under the direction of the FOH Management Team & Chef.
Responsible for interaction with guest to ensure they have a pleasant / WOW dining experience at Hope Valley Diner & Catering.
Must provide service to guest in a friendly and efficient manner. Being attentive to guest needs making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed. Some basic cooking knowledge is expected. Participates in creating a GREAT Team work culture environment, along with a positive attitude.
Participates in the active learning of waitstaff skills through self-motivated reading and training and learns from fellow team members and quality standard and operating procedures for Hope Valley Diner & Catering.
Upon request, cross trains in other areas of the restaurant as needed.
PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Arrives on time for work, in clean & proper uniform with clean personal hygiene
· Prepare tables by properly cleaning and setting with napkin & utensils including filled salt, pepper shakers & sugar caddies.
· Actively participates in opening and closing side work including but not limited to, making tea & coffee, filling dressings & condiment containers, maintaining cleanliness & sanitation of all front of house areas, properly stocking restroom supplies, properly stocking beer, wine, soda, point of sale paper, and other misc. items, sweeping of dining room floors etc.
· Stay current on menu choices, specials, and menu deviations, be aware of 86’d items or items that the kitchen is running low on and communicate to other team members.
· Supply kitchen with an “open menu count” as guest enter the restaurant.
· Handle table reservations recording, name, date, time, number of guest & phone number.
· Direct guests at a proper table, supplying menus, suggesting food and drink choices, inform guests of food preparation, and relaying specific guest needs to Chef if needed.
· Maintains proper dining experience: delivering food & drink items, fulfilling guest needs, upselling, providing refills, offering coffee & dessert, removing plates (pre-bussing).
· Designated Bartender must be able to properly mix alcoholic beverages and correctly pour wine, servers must be able to properly open and pour wine at the tableside.
· Responsible for providing guest checks with promotion inserts, receiving payment, properly closing table, & returning change and receipts.
· Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
· Filling in for absent staff when needed.
· Understand and can communicate effectively the services Hope Valley Diner & Catering has to offer.
· Greet all guest when arriving & leaving, opening the door for all guest when possible.
· Assist with packaging To-Go orders according to Standard Operation Procedures that will be provided to you.
· Support the Host / Hostess when possible.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Minimum experience of two (2) years as a professional sever/hostess/bartender or related experience
Strong communication and team skills
Must be self-motivated and possess a strong attention to detail.
Must be able to work nights, weekends & holidays
