Position Purpose and Summary
The Food Services Attendant is a key member of the Food Services Team, responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and welcoming meal service to residents and guests. This role supports buffet line service, dining room setup and breakdown, beverage station management, salad bar preparation, and maintaining a clean and organized dining environment. The Dining Services Associate ensures all service areas meet food safety and sanitation standards while promoting a respectful and resident-centered dining experience.
Responsibilities
Meal Service & Guest Interaction
Serve residents and guests from the buffet or service line in a professional and respectful manner.
Maintain portion control standards while ensuring quality presentation.
Provide courteous, mission-aligned service to all residents and guests.
Monitor food levels and communicate replenishment needs to kitchen staff.
Maintain and organize kitchen tools and utensils to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
Dining Room Setup & Maintenance
Set up dining room tables, chairs, service stations, and supplies before each meal service.
Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, beverage stations, and service counters after each meal.
Sweep and mop dining areas as needed to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
Restock utensils, napkins, condiments, and service supplies.

Refill hand soap, glove dispensers, paper towels, and related supplies daily.
Beverage & Salad Bar Operations
Prepare and maintain coffee, water, and beverage stations.
Set up and replenish salad bar items according to food safety standards.
Monitor food temperatures and ensure proper hot and cold holding procedures.
Break down and clean salad bar and beverage stations after service.
Sanitation & Compliance
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health code regulations.
Maintain clean and organized service areas at all times.
Assist with trash removal, composting, and recycling in accordance with health codes.
Report any safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, or sanitation issues to the Chef de Cuisine.
Team Support
Assist kitchen staff during peak service periods and special events.
Support meal service during high-volume operations.
Promote a positive and professional working environment aligned with the mission of Hope the Mission.
Participate in team huddles and communicate operational concerns.
Required Skills & Core Competencies
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation standards.
Ability to follow instructions and adhere to established procedures.
Ability to maintain professionalism when interacting with diverse populations.
Qualifications
Previous food service, hospitality, or dining room experience preferred.
Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Experience working in high-volume meal service environments preferred.
Mandatory Requirements:
Must have knowledge of sanitation standards and requirements of a food service environment.
Must have familiarity with proper food handling and safe holding procedures.
Must demonstrate the ability to follow food safety, hygiene, and service protocols.
Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as needed.
