Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Weekend Shelter Supervisor to oversee operations of our Men’s Shelter during overnight weekend hours. This position combines responsibilities of both the Shelter Attendant and Custodian roles, ensuring a safe, clean, and supportive environment for clients.
The start date for this position will be after December 26, 2025.
Schedule
Saturday: 5:45 PM - 8:00 AM
Sunday: 5:45 PM - 8:00 AM
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise shelter operations and enforce safety/security procedures.
- Admit clients returning from work and oversee intake processes.
- Maintain confidentiality and provide client support throughout the shift.
- Clean and sanitize common areas (kitchen, laundry, dorms, lobby, hallways).
- Launder/fold towels and bed linens for exited clients.
- Supervise client participation in daily showers, laundry schedules, and seasonal snow/ice removal.
- Wake clients in the morning and ensure readiness for departure or volunteer activities.
- Document and report incidents to the Social Worker or Program Director.
- Ensure the shelter is “tour ready” each morning.
- Handle sensitive situations with professionalism, demonstrating excellent communication skills during conflict resolution or emergency responses
Requirements
- Strong crisis intervention skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with residents, staff, and community partners
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and enforce shelter policies.
- Experience in shelter, social services, or custodial work preferred.
- Persons with lived experience of homelessness are encouraged to apply.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform cleaning tasks.
- Willingness to work evening, overnight, holidays, AND weekend shifts.
