Position Title: ODHS Co-Located Advocate

Location: Off-site (ODHS offices in Lane County)
Schedule: Primarily Mon-8-hour day – times may vary

Position Summary:
Work as a part of a team with ODHS to provide information, system navigation, support, and advocacy to ODHS (DW/SSP) clients regarding the effects of intimate partner violence (IPV) so that they understand this issue and can provide adequate protection and support for their children.
Facilitate support groups and education classes as needed.
Maintain participant confidentiality.
Work with Hope & safety Alliance staff to provide a safe and healthy environment for all personnel and participants.
Collaborate with community agencies and businesses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist ODHS CW/SSP staff in identifying survivors of intimate partner violence.
Assist referred ODHS CW/SSP clients, at their request, to navigate through ODHS CW/services, procedures, and branch office processes by facilitating survivor-led communication.
Provide culturally appropriate crisis intervention and advocacy for intimate partner violence survivors, including referral to emergency shelter, safety planning, follow-up services, assistance with restraining orders, peer support, parenting support and information on and referrals to community resources that provide services in a manner sensitive to intimate partner violence clients.
Maintain ongoing communication and coordination with ODHS CW/SSP staff, Hope & Safety Alliance staff and other community service organizations.
Coordinate with Hope & Safety Alliance program staff for additional support and services.
Provide educational information and outreach in the form of networking with local individuals and organizations.
Provide information about legal remedies and resources, including information about the availability of protective orders.
Facilitate/provide informative training to ODHS staff about intimate partner violence and Hope & Safety Alliance services.
Collaborate with agency personnel to increase cultural competency when working with survivors from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.
Work closely with community partners to identify needs specific to Spanish Speaking populations.
Ensure that ODHS offices have current materials regarding Hope & Safety services in English and Spanish.
Facilitate support/education groups as needed.
Assist with training of staff and volunteers as needed.
Attend required staff and team meetings.
Manage confidential information, paperwork and maintain statistics and fiscal documentation.
Provide weekly crisis line shift coverage as required.
Take Crisis line shifts and be a part of the agencies 24-hour Back-up rotation.
Other duties as assigned.
Who you are:
Familiarity with ODHS offices and importance of collaboration.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care and impact of domestic violence, including the effect on children and parenting.
Empathy with and understanding of survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Demonstrated understanding of safety planning and necessity of strict adherence to confidentiality.
Ability to use mature judgment in decision-making or conflict resolution with adult and children and in dealing with uncomfortable situations and conversations.
You work well independently and as part of a team, and you can multitask in a fast-paced environment and interact professionally, calmly, and equitably at all times.
You relate effectively and respectfully with people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds, and work to promote a culturally diverse and inclusive environment.

You understand the impacts of trauma and the importance of delivering collaborative, trauma-informed services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Qualifications:
Pass background check.
Must have valid drivers license, insurance, reliable transportation and a clean driving record
Experience working with survivors of domestic violence preferred.
Well organized, creative, empathetic, and people oriented.
Lived experience as a survivor of domestic violence highly valued.
Highly skilled in oral and written communication and active listening.
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, the internet, and learn new computer programs as needed.
Ability to remain up to date on current technology systems, learn new technology systems and implement within scope of duties.
Maintain a level of comfort and ability around basic technology (email, database, text, chat etc.) as well as future systems as our technology needs progress
Completion of provided 40-hour domestic and sexual violence advocacy training (or equivalent approved by the CEO) within the first six months of employment
Background Check: The Department of Justice requires Hope & Safety Alliance to conduct a background check, fingerprint report, and a search of local and national sex offender registries based on each state of residency for the previous five years.
Work Environment:
This position requires long periods of time working at a computer and talking on a telephone. A domestic violence agency environment can potentially shift from stable to highly charged, and all employees must remain calm, creative, and flexible.

Salary : $18
