Part-Time Horseback Riding Instructor
Hope Ranch Therapeutic Riding Center — Manhattan, KS
Hope Ranch Therapeutic Riding Center is seeking a knowledgeable, dependable riding instructor with part-time availability to join our team. We are a predominantly Western barn offering English, Western, and therapeutic riding lessons to students of various ages and abilities. Experience in both English/jumping and Western disciplines is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach beginner through intermediate riding lessons tailored to each student’s needs, goals, and abilities.
- Provide instruction in proper equitation, balance, posture, and control.
- Teach foundational riding skills, including posting/diagonals and canter leads.
- Teach safe horse handling, grooming, tacking, and other horsemanship skills.
- Adapt instruction to support riders participating in therapeutic riding lessons.
- Prioritize student and horse safety during lessons and activities.
- Assist with planning and running horse shows, competitions, and other equestrian events.
- Help with Hope Ranch events outside regular lesson hours.
- Help keep stalls, the stable, and riding arenas clean and organized.
Qualifications
- Equestrian background and appropriate riding experience required.
- Strong foundation in riding fundamentals and proper equitation.
- Comfortable using Western and English tack preferred.
- Confident teaching basic through intermediate riding and horsemanship skills.
- Patient, clear communicator who can adapt instruction for students of different ages and abilities.
- Experience in both Western and English/jumping disciplines preferred.
- Previous riding instruction or coaching experience preferred but not required.
Schedule
Part-time availability required, with availability to assist at occasional events outside regular lesson hours.
