Position Summary: We’re seeking a detail-oriented LPN who thrives under deadlines, excels at patient communication, and is experienced with telephone triage and office nursing duties. This role includes rooming patients and taking vitals. Prior neurology experience and familiarity with Athena EMR are a plus. Pay based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promptly answer incoming calls and handle each caller professionally.
- Perform telephone triage using approved guidelines; assess emergent, urgent, non-urgent, or home-care needs.
- Provide approved home-care instructions and patient education.
- Room patients, obtain vitals, and prepare patients for provider visits.
- Prioritize, advise, schedule provider appointments, or refer callers to appropriate services/facilities.
- Thoroughly document encounters in EMR per policies; fax Telephone Advice Records/transaction calls to physicians as required.
- Participate in in-service training, staff meetings, quality improvement, and evaluations.
- Maintain current LPN licensure and required continuing education; notify manager immediately of any license status change.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current LPN/LVN licensure in Tennessee (or appropriate compact state where applicable).
- Prefer minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience in a physician office, home health, critical care, and/or emergency room.
- Experience with telephone triage, patient rooming, and vitals.
- Athena EMR experience and prior neurology experience a plus.
- Strong communication, documentation, and patient-prioritization skills.
