What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Services Manager position at Hope Ministries?
JOB SUMMARY
As a part of Hope Ministries, the kitchen demonstrates God’s love in practical, tangible ways to our residents’ staying here and to guests who come for meals. The Food Services Manager is the point person to facilitate well-balanced, nutritious meals that are well presented and good tasting. This is a working supervisor position performing both supervisory and work tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work in a spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance with all other staff members.
- Schedule work shifts for all kitchen employees to provide full coverage.
- Communicate with the appropriate channels any food and supply needs that can be procured through our donor base.
- Ensure that kitchens and storerooms abide by all health and food regulations.
- Order food and supplies regularly, meal and menu planning using available and incoming stock, working within budget constraints.
- Pick up and deliver food and supplies as necessary.
- Properly inventory, store and rotate food stocks and related food service items.
- Place a value on all donated product according to established guidelines and report that to the Chief Program Officer.
- Immediately report any equipment or facility problems to Facilities Manager.
- Provide oversight and supervision of Hope Ministries food service operations at Bethel, Door of Faith, and Hope Family Center sights
- Directly supervise all Food Services staff, providing training, guidance, support, and regular feedback.
- Cultivate a collaborative and motivated team environment that prioritizes professional development and accountability.
- Plan and execute special events as it relates to food services.
- Oversee foodservice Service and Skills assignments.
- Actively contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, clients, and visitors. This includes adhering to established safety protocols, promptly reporting any safety concerns or incidents, and supporting organizational efforts to foster a culture of safety and security.
- Participate in the spiritual growth and Christian instruction of those whom Hope Ministries serves. This can include (but is not restricted to) personal mentoring, the sharing of Scripture and Biblical encouragement, and praying with program participants. This may be in a structured setting (i.e., a classroom or chapel), or unstructured, with individual clients as the need arises.
- Carry, maintain, and utilize a company-provided cell phone or smart phone to conduct the responsibilities of this position to include: being reachable during business and off hours during weekdays and weekends should the need arise and checking and responding to emails or text messages in a timely manner to ensure that priorities are met.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Program Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS
- I understand and agree with Hope Ministries' Mission Statement, Core Values, and Statement of Faith.
- Must have the knowledge and ability to order, prepare, and serve meals on time to large groups (90-200 people).
- Experience supervising others.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Spiritual Qualifications: Must have a lifestyle that demonstrates moral and ethical adherence to the teachings of the Bible and an expressed desire to minister to those who are poor, needy and homeless.
Reports to: Chief Program Officer
Salaried/Exempt _X__ Hourly/Non-exempt__
Work Schedule: A minimum of 40 hours per week – Schedule will vary according to necessary staffing – It will be necessary to work holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
