About Hope House:

Hope House is a comprehensive domestic violence service provider serving survivors and their families in the Eastern Jackson County / Kansas City area. We are committed to trauma-informed, survivor-centered services that promote safety, dignity, and long-term stability.

The Role

The Case Management Specialist is a unique hybrid role that blends direct survivor advocacy with financial coordination and administrative responsibility. This position plays a critical role in helping survivors meet urgent needs—such as rent, utilities, and dental care—while also providing emotional support, crisis intervention, and advocacy.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to work directly with survivors, understands the importance of financial stability in safety planning, and enjoys ensuring systems and processes run smoothly behind the scenes.

What You'll Do

  • Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, emotional support, and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence.
  • Assist survivors with safety planning, goal setting, and navigating systems such as housing, healthcare, and the courts.
  • Manage client financial assistance, including reviewing requests, coordinating rent and utility payments, and ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
  • Coordinate Hope House’s on-site Dental Clinic, including scheduling clients and communicating with volunteer providers and staff.
  • Serve as a liaison with internal staff and community partners to ensure appropriate referrals and access to resources.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to meet quality assurance and grant requirements.
  • Participate in on-call coverage on a rotating basis to support 24-hour shelter operations.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field OR equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience providing advocacy, case management, or crisis intervention.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail—especially with financial or administrative tasks.
  • Ability to balance empathy with clear boundaries and professionalism.
  • Comfort working in a trauma-informed environment with individuals experiencing crisis.
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and familiarity with local resources is preferred.
