Position Summary
Hope High School seeks an energetic, student-focused, and technically proficient Auditorium House & Technical Manager to oversee all logistical and technical operations for both internal high school events and external organizational rentals. This role is crucial for ensuring the venue operates smoothly, safely, and professionally, with a strong emphasis on supporting student learning and school-day functions.
Key Responsibilities
High School & Student Support (Internal Focus)
- School-Day Stewardship: Act as the primary steward of the auditorium space during the school day, ensuring it is secure, clean, and organized.
- Student Performance Support: Provide comprehensive technical and logistical support for all school-led events, including concerts, assemblies, graduation ceremonies, and theatrical productions.
- Mentorship & Training: Actively support student performers and technical crew members. Offer guidance and basic training on safe and effective use of stage equipment and technical systems.
- Teacher/Staff Liaison: Coordinate directly with faculty and staff (e.g., drama, music, principal’s office) to meet their needs for using the facility, including setting up standard staging, sound, and lighting for daily classes or assemblies.
Technical & Production Oversight
- Technical Management: Serve as the hands-on technical lead. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot the auditorium’s professional-grade lighting (conventional and LED fixtures), sound reinforcement systems, and projection equipment.
- Client Coordination (External Rentals): Serve as the primary technical and logistical contact for all external organizations renting the auditorium. Assess and coordinate their technical needs (lighting, sound, A/V, and staging).
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain a comprehensive inventory of all technical assets. Schedule and/or perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on equipment.
Safety & Event Logistics
- On-Site Management: Be the on-site manager for all events (both school and external). In partnership with ABM, oversee building opening, closing, and securing procedures.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce all relevant technical, fire, and safety codes, particularly concerning stage use, rigging, and emergency procedures, working closely with school administration.
- House Management: Supervise event staff or volunteer ushers for front-of-house operations when required, focusing on patron safety and a positive experience.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in venue management, technical theater, or a related event production field. Experience working in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of professional theater lighting, sound systems, and video/projection technology.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, external clients, and school administration.
- Flexibility: Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the school and external event schedule.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree in Technical Theatre, Arts Management, or a related field.
- Experience mentoring high school students in technical theater or A/V production.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
