Position Overview:
Hope Farms is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Landscaping Technician to support landscape installation projects. This position requires physical strength, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work efficiently outdoors in all seasons. You will support landscape crew needs such as planting, mulching, grading, and material installation.
Landscaping Responsibilities:
- Assist with planting and installing landscape beds, trees, and hardscape features.
- Perform mulching, edging, and soil grading.
- Lay sod or seed lawns; operate small machinery (sod cutters, wheelbarrows, tampers, etc.).
- Follow landscape plans and take direction from team leads or landscape designers.
- Maintain tools and job site cleanliness; assist with teardown and cleanup of landscape sites.
General Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean, organized work area across both nursery and job sites.
- Participate in team meetings, safety briefings, and seasonal planning efforts.
Qualifications:
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet for 8 hours daily.
- Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather (heat, rain, cold)
Horticultural & Landscaping Skills:
- Basic knowledge of plant material, planting techniques, and soil amendments.
- Experience operating landscape and nursery equipment (skid steer, hand tools, irrigation systems) preferred.
- Ability to read and follow basic site plans and planting diagrams a plus.
Mechanical Aptitude:
- Comfortable maintaining and troubleshooting small engines
- Willingness to learn equipment use and conduct minor repairs.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (for driving to job sites).
Soft Skills & Work Ethic:
- Strong attention to detail, especially in plant identification and care.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to high-quality work.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and willingness to ask questions when needed.
