As we look ahead, we are seeking a strategic, visionary leader to join our executive team in Anchorage, Alaska as Director of Business Development—a key role that will help expand and strengthen our mission across the state.

Position Summary

The Director of Business Development is a core member of Hope’s executive leadership team, responsible for driving strategic growth and organizational sustainability through the development and implementation of mission-aligned initiatives. This position plays a central role in translating vision into action—identifying opportunities, building cross-functional partnerships, and leading high-impact projects that expand and enhance services for individuals with disabilities across Alaska.


Working collaboratively across all departments, the Director of Business Development leads efforts to diversify revenue, develop innovative service models, and respond to emerging community needs. This role requires a balance of big-picture thinking and operational follow-through, ensuring that new initiatives are not only visionary but viable. The Director of Business Development brings a strong strategic lens, a deep commitment to Hope’s mission, and the execution skills necessary to build solutions that last.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Identify and research mission-aligned business and program opportunities
  • Track emerging trends, funding landscapes, and partnership prospects
  • Assess feasibility of initiatives and present clear business strategies
  • Lead cross-functional teams to move approved projects from concept through implementation
  • Build structures, timelines, and processes that ensure successful, lasting outcomes
  • Work alongside Finance, Programs, HR, and Administration to ensure new initiatives are viable, resourced, and integrated into operations
  • Contribute to the long-term sustainability of the organization through innovative, mission-driven approaches

Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field (required); Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in strategic planning, business development, project management, or organizational leadership. Experience in mission driven strategies or nonprofit management strongly preferred

  • Proven ability to develop and lead mission-aligned growth initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to engage diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple complex projects.
  • High integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant databases.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Alaska driver’s license and driving record in good standing.
  • Must meet state and agency background check requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs and work at a desk/computer for extended periods.
  • Completion of required trainings and clearances (e.g., TB test).
