GENERAL SUMMARY
Join our team at Southeast Orthopedic Specialists’ Fleming Island in Jacksonville, FL! As an Orthopedic Technician, you’ll provide hands-on patient care by applying casts and splints, dispensing DME, and supporting physicians—all while keeping the clinic organized and running smoothly.
Essential Functions
- Apply and adjust fiberglass casts, splints, and orthopedic traction equipment per physician orders.
- Educate patients on proper care of casts, splints, and DME items.
- Maintain knowledge of clinic DME products and indications for use.
- Keep accurate logs and spreadsheets as required by the department.
- Place supply orders according to calculated par levels and clinic needs.
- Collaborate with the Authorization Team to determine patient financial responsibility and communicate with patients.
- Organize and stock received inventory efficiently.
- Monitor inventory levels daily to ensure clinic readiness.
- Report new usage trends to the Practice Manager.
- Assist in other areas of the clinic as needed.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma/GED required; completion of Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Technician, or Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Experience: Minimum one year of relevant experience in a medical facility preferred.
- Skills & Abilities: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to educate patients effectively, and proficiency in inventory management.
- Professionalism: Ability to collaborate with clinic staff, communicate clearly with patients, and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
