What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Practitioner position at HOPCo?
Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches is a multi-location medical practice devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the body's musculoskeletal system. Our locations feature a staff of highly trained orthopedic surgeons, each with a specific area of expertise. We offers a team approach to your care and provides a variety of services right on campus designed for your convenience and ensuring an outstanding continuum of care. These include on-site X-ray, on-site MRI, on-site physical therapy, and aquatic therapy.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic
and therapeutic procedures. - Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, doing physicals, monitoring therapies, giving injections
and medications, suturing wounds. - Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems.
- Responds to emergencies including the use of CPR.
- Documents patient information and care provided in patient record and maintains patient statistics.
- Educates patients and families as appropriate.
- Collaborates with physicians in managing the medical needs of patients.
- Participates in rounds at the hospital and responds to patient calls received after hours and on weekends.
- Consults with other staff as necessary.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
EDUCATION
· ADN/BSN
KNOWLEDGE
· Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols, administration of medications, delivering physical care following treatment plan
· Knowledge of how to assess a patient with chronic medical conditions / understanding of pathophysiology regarding disease process.
· Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniques that can be used to educate patients which encourages them to participate in their care.
· Insertion of intravenous catheters.
· Skill in evaluating and revising patient care based on symptoms / objective assessment.
ABILITIES
· Ability to make responsible decisions within the Registered Nurse scope of practice & clinic protocols.
· Ability to offer education materials about procedures they had done.
· Ensure patient safety at all times.
· Ability to have open communication with the providers
· Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.
