What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Apprentice position at HOP Energy, LLC?
Apprentice Program
Step 1 – Must have received a diploma from an accredited Technical School
Step 2 – Perform as a “helper” to an existing licensed service technician. The helper will assist in such tasks as:
- Tune ups
- Exposure to combustion tests on various types of equipment such as Becket Burners
- Exposure to servicing hot water baseboard units, forced hot air units and multiple mechanical systems
- Help in trouble shooting no heat calls including OOO (out of oil) conditions
- Performing oil tank and oil line inspections
- Exposure to situations involving gas
- Ability to follow instructions and retain information
The apprentice will be evaluated regarding progress being recorded on the tasks in step 2 by a licensed service technician during the initial 3-month period. Additionally, a member of the management team will assess the progress of the apprentice. The evaluation may consist of verbal questions, written tests and technical testing.
Step 3 – the apprentice will be observed performing the tasks in step 2 by a member of the management team during a second 3-month period to determine the progress of the candidate in a number of competencies:
- Customer interaction
- Technical proficiency
- Safety
- Use of Technology
- Ability to comprehend and execute basic instructional documents
Step 4 – Pass the Certificate of Competency exam and pass the NORA Bronze exam at the completion of the six-month apprentice program.
Step 5 – If both the Certificate of Competency exam and Nora Bronze exam are passed, the Apprentice will graduate to a “trainee” classification. With the trainee position being a six-month program.
Salary : $20 - $22
