Job Summary

The Controller is responsible for maintaining and processing and/or reviewing key accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger reconciliation, financial statement preparation, and more. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and the rest of the Accounting Team, this role helps ensure accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions, and compliance with company policies and financial obligations.

This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys a variety of responsibilities, thrives in a fast-paced business environment, and takes pride in maintaining strong financial accuracy and organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborates with leadership and team members to execute accounting and financial tasks effectively
• Prepares timely and accurate financial statements
• Prepares monthly bank reconciliations and other general ledger account reconciliations
• Enters and/or reviews payable transactions entered into accounting software
• Assists with customer invoicing and account collections
• Processes customer credit memos and credit card payments
• Performs account reconciliations for customer accounts
• Assists in filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations
• Assists with external audit
• Assists with annual budgeting
• Performs all other duties as assigned by management

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or comparable experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong Excel skills preferred
• Experience with general ledger accounting software
• Ability to interpret financial instructions and documentation accurately
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Travel Requirements

• Some travel may be required, less than 10%

Physical Demands

• Ability to work in an agricultural business environment
• Ability to tolerate occasional odors associated with eggs and poultry
• Normal corrective vision range, ability to see color and distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols
• Frequently required to sit, walk, talk, hear, bend, reach, and stand
• This position may require heavy lifting, over 40 lbs.
