Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers across local to regional routes, including van trailers, and walking floor/belt trailers, following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Navigate routes efficiently to meet delivery schedules while optimizing fuel consumption and route planning
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections on trucks to verify mechanical safety, especially when handling manual transmissions or specialized trailers such as walking floor and belt trailers.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route changes, delivery statuses, or any issues encountered during trips
Qualifications
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on route driving and delivery logistics
- Ability to handle manual transmission trucks confidently; familiarity with manual handling procedures for cargo loading/unloading
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations related to driver hours of service, vehicle maintenance, and safety protocols
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, punctuality, and customer service excellence
