General Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative VDC Specialist to join our mechanical team. This role is ideal for a candidate with strong BIM expertise and a passion for leveraging technology to improve design, coordination, and fabrication processes. The VDC Specialist will be responsible for model creation, automation, scripting, and supporting project teams with software-related needs.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Develop and manage detailed mechanical models using Revit, CADmep, and Navisworks.
  • Set up Revit models with appropriate templates, families, and project standards.
  • Perform clash detection and coordination using Navisworks Manage.
  • Create and maintain CADmep scripts to support fabrication workflows.
  • Automate modeling tasks and enhance data integration using Dynamo.
  • Develop custom BIM tools and scripts using C# and Python.
  • Provide technical support to project teams regarding BIM software and workflows.
  • Collaborate with design, coordination, and field teams to ensure model accuracy and constructability.
  • Generate fabrication-ready shop drawings, spool sheets, and BOMs.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with general contractors and other trades.
  • Maintain documentation and version control of models and scripts.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Experience: At least 5 years of related or progressive experience in VDC/BIM within the mechanical or MEP trades
  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field preferred
  • Technical Skills: Experience with BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or other fabrication tools. Advanced proficiency in Revit, Navisworks Manage, and CADmep.

Description of physical working environment:

  • Primarily office-based, with occasional travel to field locations or corporate meetings.
  • May require lifting of supply boxes or materials up to 30 lbs.
