Duties

• Conduct preventive patrol of assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
• Respond to calls for service, emergencies, accidents, disturbances, and other incidents requiring police assistance.
• Identify, investigate, and document criminal offenses and other incidents.
• Apprehend offenders and assist with subsequent prosecution and court proceedings when appropriate.
• Preserve crime scenes, collect evidence, and ensure the proper handling and security of evidence and property.
• Prepare accurate and detailed reports concerning crimes, arrests, accidents, investigations, and other police activities.
• Maintain awareness of conditions that may contribute to crime or endanger public safety and take appropriate preventive action.
• Assist individuals in need, including providing first aid when qualified and helping those who require police or community services.
• Enforce motor vehicle laws, parking ordinances, and other applicable laws and regulations.
• Direct and manage vehicular and pedestrian traffic during routine operations, emergencies, and periods of congestion.
• Conduct security checks of buildings, schools, parks, playgrounds, public assemblies, and other locations as assigned.
• Investigate and address suspicious persons, public disturbances, neighborhood disputes, family disputes, and other situations affecting the peace and safety of the community.
• Serve or deliver warrants, summonses, subpoenas, and other official documents as directed.
• Communicate relevant information to supervisors and fellow officers to support effective police operations and teamwork.
• Maintain assigned weapons, vehicles, radios, and other equipment in a safe, clean, functional, and presentable condition.
• Report hazardous road conditions, malfunctioning traffic signals, fires, street hazards, and other conditions that may affect public safety.
• Confer with prosecutors and testify in court as required.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief of Police or designated supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• Be a United States citizen
• Be at least 21 years old on or before the date of hire
• Possess a high school diploma or GED
• Have no criminal record
• Maintain a good driving record
• Be able to perform under stressful situations while maintaining professionalism
• Successfully meet all medical and psychological requirements for the position

Competitive Salary

Current Starting Pay

• $28.51–$37.96/hour
• Annual Salary: $59,300–$78,956
• Based on prior law enforcement experience

Effective July 1, 2027

• $30.79–$41.00/hour
• Annual Salary: $64,043–$85,280

Extra Duty Details: $70.00/hour

Hiring Process
