The Electrical Controls Helper supports the electrical controls team in building, wiring, and quality-checking industrial control panels and related electrical assemblies. This position also performs general shop support duties to maintain efficient workflow and ensure high product quality, organization, and safety. The role is ideal for a hands-on individual who is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and interested in developing foundational electrical and controls skills within a manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist electricians and panel builders in assembling and wiring control panels according to schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
- Perform labeling, component placement, and basic termination of wires under supervision.
- Conduct basic quality checks and visual inspections of completed panels for wiring accuracy, component completeness, and overall workmanship.
- Support test and checkout processes by helping verify continuity, connections, and documentation accuracy.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area, including tools, materials, and electrical components.
- Prepare and move materials, components, and assemblies between workstations as needed.
- Operate basic shop tools (drills, screwdrivers, crimpers, labelers, etc.) safely and correctly.
- Assist with crating, packaging, and staging completed panels for shipment.
- Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Support other departments with basic shop help tasks, including inventory organization, material handling, and facility upkeep as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in electrical, controls, or industrial technology preferred.
- Basic understanding of electrical components (relays, circuit breakers, terminal blocks, power supplies).
- Ability to read and interpret basic wiring diagrams and electrical symbols
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand/power tools.
- Ability to take direction, work independently or as part of a team, and meet production schedules.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Lift and move objects up to 70 lbs with appropriate assistance or equipment.
- Perform repetitive motions such as bending, reaching, and manual assembly.
Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
