Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry, ensuring consistency and presentation standards are met
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new sushi creations and seasonal specials that delight our guests
- Maintain strict food safety practices, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures in accordance with health regulations
- Support kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, chopping vegetables, and managing food prep stations efficiently
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth service during busy hours, including catering events or special functions
- Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization within the kitchen environment to promote safety and efficiency
- Serve dishes with professionalism and a friendly attitude, creating a welcoming atmosphere for diners
Experience
- Previous experience working in a sushi bar or Japanese cuisine kitchen is highly preferred
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in food preparation techniques specific to sushi and Japanese dishes
- Experience in fine dining environments or upscale restaurants is a plus
- Knowledge of food industry standards related to food safety, handling, and sanitation practices
- Background in dietary department or dietary aide roles can be advantageous for understanding special dietary needs
