What are the responsibilities and job description for the Journeyman Lineman position at Hood River Electric & Internet Co-op?
Hood River Electric & Internet Co-op is looking for a Journeyman Lineman to join our operations crew in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. In this role, you'll construct, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution lines and associated equipment. You'll also work with fiber optic cables, perform vegetation management, and assist with substation maintenance and switching. Our system includes 4 miles of electric transmission and 276 miles of distribution, with 150 miles overhead and the remainder underground. We serve members from three substations, two of which are co-op-owned and one where we take service from BPA. This is a hands-on position on a small, collaborative crew where versatility matters. If you take pride in keeping the lights on and doing the job safely, you'll fit right in with our team. Our linemen work across electric, fiber, and vegetation duties, and we're looking for someone who sees that variety as a strength, not a burden. Overtime is typically modest, averaging around 100–150 hours per year, so this role is well-suited for someone who values work-life balance alongside meaningful, skilled work. The position includes an on-call rotation with weekend and evening emergency response.
