Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood and lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-three specialty wood product distribution operations, located in fifteen states serving the northeast, southeast, and southwest United States. We are seeking an exceptional person for a Forklift Operator at our sawmill located in Bogalusa, LA. Forklift Drivers in the lumberyard operate lifts, industrial trucks or tractors equipped to move, load, and stack/unstack materials around mills, warehouses, and log yards. Duties/Responsibilities:

We are seeking an exceptional person for a Forklift Operator at our sawmill located in Bogalusa, LA. Forklift Drivers in the lumberyard operate lifts, industrial trucks or tractors equipped to move, load, and stack/unstack materials around mills, warehouses, and log yards. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Must move controls to drive diesel-powered trucks and transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
- Must move levers and controls that operate lifting devices to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
- Responsible for performing routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, or fueling.
- Responsible for loading and unloading trucks.
- Responsible for unloading strapped bunks of lumber from the sawmill to the log yard and/or the MOCO Stacker.
- Responsible for unloading and loading bunks of lumber from the planer mill finish line to the proper lumber sheds.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean work area and surrounding areas making sure it is clean and free of debris.
- Must maintain a valid Forklift Certification.
- Must understand and follow oral or written instructions.
- Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Good manual dexterity and good eye/hand coordination.
- Performs tasks such as walking, climbing, or standing for long periods.
- Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
- Ability to work outside in all conditions.
- Must be comfortable working in and around loud equipment.
- Must be able to work while in a harness at heights over four feet.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs throughout the work shift.
- Must follow all area/machine center-specific safety regulations.
- Must wear all required Personal Protective equipment.
- Must maintain a high level of safety procedures and practices.
- Must visually inspect equipment and area before starting/operating the lift.
- Use standard lockout procedures when appropriate.
- Use proper lifting techniques by pushing, pulling, and lifting with your legs and not your back.
