DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to provide high-quality, standards-aligned instruction to students in support of their academic growth and progress toward meeting or exceeding grade-level expectations. The Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing instruction; differentiating learning to address student needs; and establishing a positive, inclusive, student-centered, and culturally responsive classroom environment that promotes engagement, achievement, and responsible citizenship. This position collaborates with staff, families, and administrators to support student success and to foster a learning community in which each student is known, valued, and encouraged toward excellence. This position works under the direction and supervision of the principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement
- Washington State Patrol and Criminal Justice fingerprint/background clearance
- Washington State Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Release
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan, deliver, and assess standards-aligned instruction using a variety of instructional strategies to promote student engagement, achievement, and growth.
- Develop and implement instruction aligned with district curriculum, Washington State learning standards, and grade-level expectations.
- Differentiate instruction to address student learning needs, strengths, and interests.
- Use formal and informal assessment data to identify student learning needs and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Prepare instructional materials and maintain required student records.
- Use and integrate educationally relevant technology.
- Maintain appropriate student discipline consistent with classroom and school-wide expectations.
- Establish and maintain a positive, safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with families, staff, and community members regarding student progress and school matters.
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, and support staff to improve instruction and student outcomes.
- Participate in team planning, professional learning activities, district and building meetings, in-service, and required training.
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, confidentiality, reliability, and punctuality.
