POSITION OVERVIEW
Our Oahu lumber yard is looking for an experienced driver with current CDL A designation. Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Drives truck to destination in a safe and efficient manner.
- Delivers and off-loads material.
- Fill orders in the yard when not on deliveries.
- Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
- Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
- Cleans inside of truck.
- Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
- Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have Hawaii CDL Class A Driver’s License
- Detail Oriented
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
- Applicant must provide a driving abstract and previous CDL A driving experience.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE — High School diploma or GED and one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
