Join the largest locally owned and operated commercial waste management company in Hawaii. Honolulu Disposal Service is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our growing team. This position is responsible for general accounting, the preparation and accuracy of monthly reports and financial statements, and other billing, receivables, and payables duties as needed.
Essential Job Functions
· Assist with preparing financial statements and monthly variance reports
· Prepare monthly closing entries
· Oversee Accounts Payable functions
· Oversee the accounting operations of the company and subsidiaries
· Analyze, develop and monitor cost control procedures
· Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
· Ensure that required payments are made on a timely basis
· Maintain accounts payable records and purchase logs
· Ensure that bank reconciliations are completed
· Support Operations and Sales departments with information requirements
· Reconcile balance sheet accounts
. Coordinate information to external auditors during annual audit
. Prepare and monitor annual budgets
· Establish and monitor internal control procedures
· Prepare and analyze financial information for strategic planning

Job Requirements
· 3 years accounting experience preferred
. Accounting degree or equivalent work experience
· Organized, detail oriented individual able to meet deadlines
· Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
· Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Excel
· Able to read, analyze, and create technical forms and financial reports
. Must be a team player
