As a Principal Systems Engineer – Next Generation Avionics, you will serve as a senior technical authority responsible for shaping system-level architectures, standards, and engineering strategy for highly complex, safety-critical avionics platforms. You will partner with engineering leadership, program management, and business stakeholders to ensure architectural integrity, technical excellence, and successful delivery of current and next-generation avionics solutions.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a system-level architect to define, own, and govern end-to-end system architectures, interfaces, and technical standards
- Directly interface with external engineering leadership for customer pursuits and requirements
- Drive integration and certification strategies for complex avionics systems
- Influence and shape technology roadmaps, architectural evolution, and long-term product strategy
- Lead technical trade studies and risk mitigation for performance, safety, cost, and schedule drivers
- Provide technical oversight across hardware, software, systems, cybersecurity, and certification disciplines
- Mentor and coach senior and lead engineers, serving as a multiplier for systems engineering excellence
You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM discipline
- 12 years of systems engineering experience within complex, safety-critical systems (aerospace preferred)
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Engineering or related field
- Extensive experience with avionics systems, integrated flight decks, or complex embedded systems
- Ownership of platform or system-of-systems architectures and development lifecycles
- Demonstrated experience serving as a technical authority or chief/principal engineer, including high proficiency of regulatory and certification compliance (e.g., DO-178, DO-254, ARP4754)
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance near-term program execution and long-term architecture
- Enterprise-scale technical impact across groundbreaking aviation platforms
- Influence on next-generation avionics architectures and autonomy-enabled systems
