Summary
The role of retail Store Manager is vitally important to our company, as this person is not only the “face” of Honeysuckle Gelato but they are charged with managing the store and upholding our core values of: spreading joy, quality, inclusion, integrity, creativity, and teamwork.
The retail Store Manager must be professional, meticulous, and most importantly, must personify our mission to “make bad days good and good days better by creating delicious gelato and joyful experiences.” This mission must be upheld in the way we treat our vendors, our neighbors, our staff and, most importantly, our customers.
As a retail Store Manager, you will be responsible for hiring, training and leading your team to ensure that our customers receive the best product and experience. You will be responsible for all daily operations, including preparing work schedules, reporting sales, and tracking inventory. You will be expected to create a welcoming and inclusive team culture where our core values are upheld by all. As Store Manager, you are also expected to work front of house shifts solo as well as with your team. You will be expected to engage customers and compile customer feedback.

Primary Responsibilities
- Exemplify our mission of “making bad days good and good days better by creating delicious gelato and joyful experiences” and practicing our core values of spreading joy, quality, inclusion, integrity, creativity, and teamwork
- Ensure that quality customer service is given to all customers
- Hire, develop, mentor, train and oversee employees. Meet with each employee monthly and provide monthly performance review of their assigned duties
- Must work weekend shifts, including 2 Saturday closing shifts per month
- Attend property management meetings as the company representative
- Work with property managers on site related issues, and ensure food service establishment inspection reports always receive a score of 95 or higher
- Oversee cleanliness of the scoop shop at all times
- Review opening and closing checklists to ensure employees performed all tasks
- Provide weekly reports to the Retail Operations Manager
- Maintain accurate inventory reports and order inventory as needed
- Create ways to engage customers
- Scoop gelato and sorbet, make milkshakes and fill various other orders
- Oversee quality control for all products
- Maintain all equipment and immediately report issues
- Serve as the point of contact with property managers
- Oversee compliance of all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines, and
- Light to moderate lifting
- Check mail and, when necessary, pay bills
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous experience in the restaurant industry is preferred
- ServSafe Certificate required (Preferred upon hire, but we will also pay for your certificate and extend a 3-month window for you to acquire it)
- Working knowledge of inventory control and loss prevention
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills required
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs unaided
- This is a full-time non-exempt position that requires working weekends and holidays.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all retail store employees and is responsible for the
performance, management, and hiring of the employees within that retail shop
Work Environment
This job operates in both a professional office environment and fast-paced
retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such
as computers, phones, printers, filing cabinets and also retail gelato shop equipment such as cash registers, dipping cabinets and freezers.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
