Position Summary

Honesty Automotive Repairs is seeking an experienced Automotive Painter whose primary responsibility is producing high-quality OEM-level paint finishes. While this position is focused on refinishing, the ideal candidate will also possess solid body repair skills and be willing to perform collision repairs when production demands require it.

This individual should be capable of working independently, maintaining a clean and organized paint department, and assisting the body team with repairs to help maximize shop efficiency and cycle time.

Primary Responsibilities (Painting)

  • Perform all vehicle preparation for refinishing, including sanding, masking, priming, sealing, and final cleaning.
  • Mix paint accurately using computerized mixing systems.
  • Perform OEM-quality color matching and panel blending.
  • Apply primers, sealers, basecoat, clearcoat, and specialty finishes.
  • Wet sand, buff, polish, and remove minor paint imperfections.
  • Inspect completed paint work to ensure factory-quality finishes.
  • Maintain paint booth cleanliness and equipment.
  • Properly maintain spray guns, mixing equipment, and paint inventory.
  • Follow all manufacturer paint procedures and safety guidelines.

Secondary Responsibilities (Body Repair)

When workload requires, the technician will also:

  • Repair damaged body panels.
  • Replace bolt-on components.
  • Perform light to moderate body repairs.
  • Apply and shape body filler.
  • Block sand repaired panels.
  • Assist with vehicle disassembly and reassembly.
  • Assist in maintaining production flow between the body and paint departments.
  • Perform other collision repair duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of automotive refinishing experience.
  • Previous collision body repair experience required.
  • Strong understanding of OEM repair and refinish procedures.
  • Ability to perform both paint and body work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent color-matching and blending skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must provide personal hand tools appropriate for both paint and body work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • I-CAR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience with OEM-certified collision repair facilities.
  • Aluminum repair experience is a plus.
  • Experience using waterborne paint systems.

  • Work efficiently while minimizing comebacks and rework.
  • Communicate effectively with estimators, production managers, and fellow technicians.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a team-first attitude.

Pay: $58,500.00 - $105,300.00 per year
