What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dyno Support Technician position at Honda Racing Corporation USA?
Honda Racing Corporation (formerly, Honda Performance Development, Inc.,) a leader in motorsports racing, is seeking a highly organized and detailed oriented Dyno Technician to join its Racing Program in Santa Clarita, California (North Los Angeles County).
Engine Jig Lead:
- Engine jig readiness and upkeep
- Installing / removing engine jigs
- Installing and removing exhaust systems
- Borescope of engines post running
- Returning engines back to Assy Shop
Test Cell Mechanical Support(when required):
- Engine installation and removal from testbed
- Engine laser alignment support
- Exhaust system in-test cell support
Chassis Gearbox Lead:
- General gearbox/axle assembly/rebuild and maintenance upkeep
- Complete gearbox and component level hour tracking/record keeping and component changeout cycles
- Internal component and consumable inventory level and purchase order planning
- Vendor interface (technical information, procedures, and quotes)
- Gearbox hardware includes (gearbox assemblies/geartrain components, driveshafts/axles, input shafts/clutches, etc.)
General Fabrication Support
- Assist fabrication lead with department fabrication tasks as needed (tig-weld, lathe, mill, fixtures, fluid hoses/lines, etc.) desired
Special Initiative:
- Assist with oil and fuel delivery, drum storage, and waste disposal
- Other activities as directed
Competencies:
- High level of mechanical skills and tools (general, measuring) a must, fabrication skills desired
- Hands on knowledge of internal combustion engines and gearbox/transmissions a must
- Knowledge of dyno testing hardware and instrumentation a plus
- Experience with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc.) a must
- Ability to prioritize and manage work effectively to meet deadlines.
- Strong need to demonstrate a strong drive and accept accountability for actions and results
- Ability to adapt to and work within a dynamic environment - cope with change.
- Strong need to treat people with respect and behaves is a consistent manner in all situations.
- Ability to think through problems and identity countermeasure quickly
- Willing to work extended hours and weekends with short notice
