Automotive Shop Dispatcher

Honda of Chantilly is looking for a qualified Automotive Shop dispatcher due to an overwhelming amount of business. The Automotive Shop Dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the service department by coordinating workflow, and serving as a liaison between the Shop Foreman, technicians, and service advisors. The dispatcher is responsible for optimizing the use of resources and ensuring timely service delivery to meet customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work Distribution:
• Assign repair orders and tasks to technicians based on their skill level, availability, and workload.
• Monitor the progress of repair orders to ensure jobs are completed on time.
• Adjust technician schedules as necessary to accommodate urgent repairs or changes in workload.
• Workflow Management:
• Maintain an organized system for tracking repair orders, vehicle status, and estimated completion times.
• Prioritize work orders based on urgency, customer commitments, and shop capacity.
• Ensure technicians have all necessary tools, parts, and information to complete their jobs efficiently.
• Communication Coordination:
• Act as a point of contact between service advisors, technicians, and parts departments.
• Provide updates to service advisors regarding the status of repair orders for customer communication.
• Address and resolve scheduling conflicts or delays promptly.
• Quality Assurance:
• Verify that completed work meets quality standards and customer expectations.
• Collaborate with technicians and service advisors to address and resolve any issues related to repairs.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of work orders, technician productivity, and completed jobs.
• Generate daily, weekly, or monthly reports on shop performance metrics.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with company policies, industry standards, and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
• Prior experience in dispatching for an automotive service or repair shop is absolutely required.
• Prior experience as an automotive Service Advisor, Technician, or Shop Foreman is required.
• Familiarity with automotive repair processes and terminology.
• Skills:
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with shop management software and scheduling tools.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve conflicts effectively.
• Knowledge:
• Understanding of automotive systems and repair procedures.
• Knowledge of parts inventory and availability processes.

Work Environment:

• Fast-paced shop environment with frequent communication and collaboration.
• May involve standing, walking, or light lifting as part of daily tasks.
• Requires attention to detail and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
