Duties
- Prepare surfaces thoroughly by cleaning, sanding, plastering, caulking, and applying primers to ensure optimal paint adhesion and finish quality
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, or other coatings using brush painting, roller painting, spray painting (including conventional and construction spray), and paint sprayers for various surfaces including drywall, stucco, masonry, and concrete
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for surface preparation and coating application
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to accurately execute painting projects according to design requirements
- Conduct surface inspections with visual color comparison techniques to match colors precisely and ensure consistency across projects
- Maintain safety regulations by utilizing respiratory protection equipment and following established safety protocols during all phases of work
- Assist with fixture installation, drywall finishing, masonry repairs, plastering, renovation tasks, and general maintenance as needed to support comprehensive project completion
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction painting with a strong understanding of surface preparation techniques and coating application methods
- Knowledge of construction estimating processes is a plus for planning project scope and materials
- Familiarity with color theory for effective color matching and visual consistency
- Ability to operate ladder use safely for elevated work on structures or ceilings
- Experience in residential painting, commercial painting, industrial painting, or restoration projects is highly desirable
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, paint sprayers (including conventional spraying), brushes, rollers, and other relevant equipment
- Understanding of safety regulations including respiratory protection and adherence to safety protocols on construction sites
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to project specifications
- Experience interpreting technical drawings or blueprints for accurate project execution
- Additional handyman skills such as fixture installation, drywall repair, caulking, stucco application, concrete finishing, masonry work, remodeling or maintenance are advantageous
