Job Summary
The HVAC Start Up Technician installs, starts up, tests, troubleshoots, and commissions HVAC systems to ensure safe, efficient operation and a smooth customer handoff.
Essential Functions
Key responsibilities include:
- Start up, test, calibrate, and commission newly installed HVAC equipment and controls.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control issues using diagnostic tools.
- Document work performed, system settings, repairs, and performance checks accurately.
- Communicate system operation, maintenance needs, and next steps to customers and internal teams.
- Follow company safety standards and complete assigned work in customer settings.
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent; EPA 608 Certification; 1 year of HVAC start-up, installation, commissioning, or troubleshooting experience; working knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, diagnostic tools, and electrical/mechanical/refrigeration principles.
- Preferred: HVAC training program, apprenticeship, or NATE certification.

Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand, bend, crawl, kneel, climb ladders, access crawl spaces and rooftops, move safely on stairs, and lift up to 60 pounds.
- Travel by personal or company-provided vehicle may be required.
