Banquet Captain

Summary of Position:

The Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing and hosting galas, weddings, corporate events, and other large hotel events to provide customers with an experience they will not forget. The job duties include communicating with the catering sales team and F&B Director to make sure all needs of the customers are met, determining the number of staff needed for each banquet, and planning the layout of the venue to maximize efficiency of the event.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Coordinate details of event with the catering sales team and F&B Director
• Plan the venue layout according to the number of guests and type of event
• Determine the number of staff required for an event
• Event Setup
• Consult with the F&B Director discuss the timing of the meal courses being served
• Oversee the seating of guests, serving of meals and beverages, and the quick clearing of tables
• Manage the availability of liquor and soft drinks
• Answer customer questions and accommodate special requests when necessary
• Training new staff
• Managing the banquet staff on-call list

Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience in banquet or a similar field
• Delphi experience preferred, but not required
• Collaboration with the catering sales team and F&B Director
• Supervise banquet venue staff
• Extensive knowledge and experience with catering equipment and venue requirements
• In-depth knowledge of best practices in the hospitality industry
• Interpersonal and communication skills
• Carry out all reasonable requests of management not listed above

Physical Demands:

• All work tasks are performed indoors, most of the time. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environment systems.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Walking, standing, and lifting are required during the working day.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25-30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Requires grasping, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.

Qualification Standards:

Education

• High School or equivalent education preferred but not required

Experience

• 3 years of Banquet experience required

Grooming

• All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per hotel standards.

Job Type: Full and Pat time. Based on event schedule.

Salary: $13/hour plus gratuity
