Job Summary
As a Snow Cat Operator (Groomer) at Homewood Mountain Resort, you'll be responsible for grooming and maintaining our slopes, ramps, and maze areas to create the perfect surface for every guest's ski day. Operating state-of-the-art snowcats after the mountain closes, you'll help transform trails back to a pristine state, leaving behind the corduroy that defines the on-piste experience. This is a unique role where technical skill meets artistry, offering motivated, detail-oriented individuals the chance to work with some of the coolest equipment in the ski industry, enjoy mountain life, and know that your work directly shapes unforgettable days on the snow.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate a snowcat to provide smooth, reliable skiing surfaces
- Perform pre and post operation inspections on all equipment
- Effective communication with the vehicle maintenance team regarding machine condition and necessary repairs or service.
- Understanding of grooming patterns and methods
- Ability to work evenings and nights
- Understand and comply with safety guidelines
- Ability to detect problems with equipment
Skills and Qualifications

- Valid driver's license with no restrictions
- Experience working with and operating heavy machinery
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Climb in and out of the machine safely
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to work in the United States.

- Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
- Must maintain a well-groomed and professional appearance.
- Must display top notch customer service skills.
Preferred:
- Experience operating a Snow Cat
- Experience with winch and specialty builds
Certifications and Levels:
- Groomer I – 1-3 years' experience - $24-$26/hour
- Groomer II – 3 years' experience - $27-$29/hour
- Groomer III – 5 years' experience including experience winch and specialty skills - $30-$33/hour
Education and Experience
- Piston Bully Pro Academy On-line Training (provided upon employment)
- Cutter's Camp attendance (recommended)
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Extended periods of sitting
- Exposure to outdoors and extreme conditions
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Must be capable of pushing or pulling up to 75lbs
