JOB SUMMARY:
Manages the housekeeping and laundry operation and provides supervision to housekeeping and laundry personnel. Ensures a clean and sanitary environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as well as personnel matters as confidential information.
- Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
- Responsible for managing, motivating, leading and supervising co-workers who report to this position.
- Responsible to see that co-workers receive proper orientation, work assignments, and supervision.
- Recruits, hires, trains, disciplines and evaluates all housekeeping and laundry co-workers.
- Determines the sequence of work flow and the proper methods and standards used for cleaning and assists with housekeeping functions.
- Responsible for ordering, receiving and inventory control and availability of supplies and equipment. Keeps administration informed of redecorating needs.
- Ensures that empty rooms are cleaned and refurbished for the next resident.
- Assists new residents in moving in and the placement of their furniture.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read, write and understand English well.
- Possesses management ability including skills in written and verbal communication, reasoning and coaching.
- Understands management, delegation and motivational concepts.
- Must have qualities of leadership, initiative, good judgment and dependability.
- High degree of personal hygiene and cleanliness.
- Ability to do repeated pushing and pulling of laundry carts, and lifting or carrying a minimum of 40 pounds throughout an eight hour shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist and turn frequently throughout the course of an eight hour shift
- Experience in housekeeping is necessary.
- Thorough knowledge of housekeeping procedures, equipment and supplies.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to constantly work on their feet during an 8 hour shift, bend, stoop, twist and turn constantly throughout the shift in performing regular duties. Must be able to lift buckets of water, full trash bags, boxes of cleaning supplies and the like. Must be able to handle the frequent motions and repeated pushing and pulling involved in using electric floor equipment, wet mops, large brooms, cleaning carts with buckets of water on them, etc. Must be able to lift and transfer a minimum of 40 pounds to do these functions.
