Homewood Children's Village AmeriCorps Youth Success Mentor-- Apply Today!

Homewood Children's Village
Pittsburgh, PA Full Time
POSTED ON 5/8/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 7/7/2026

Calling those passionate about supporting youth, building relationships, and helping young people explore career and enrichment opportunities!

Homewood Children’s Village (HCV) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Homewood’s children while simultaneously reweaving the fabric of the community in which they live. Through collaboration, engagement, and advocacy, we provide a continuum of services and programming, from cradle to career, creating opportunities for youth and families to build on their strengths and develop holistically.

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Success Mentors to support youth ages 5–23 participating in our summer programming. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about mentoring, building meaningful relationships, and supporting young people in their growth, confidence, and future planning.

Our summer programming offers a range of experiences designed to meet youth at different stages of development. Youth Success Mentors may support programming focused on enrichment and social-emotional development for elementary-aged students, skill-building experiences centered around STEAM project-based learning for middle school youth, and career exploration and workforce readiness opportunities for older youth in the Learn and Earn program.

The Learn & Earn program engages youth in career exploration, skill development, and real-world learning through a tiered model: Tier 1 (age 14) focuses on career exploration; Tier 2 (ages 15–19) includes community-based work experiences; and Tier 3 (ages 20–23) focuses on advanced training and workforce preparation that can lead to certifications, employment, or registered apprenticeships.

Youth Success Mentors are typically assigned to a specific age group or program area, but may provide support across groups. In this capacity, they serve as mentors, role models, and success coaches for young people, supporting youth in building positive relationships, developing social-emotional and life skills, and (when applicable) navigating workplace expectations. Mentors also communicate with caregivers, supervisors, and team leads to ensure young people are consistently supported throughout the summer.

This position is part of AmeriCorps, a national service program that places members in community-based service roles.
