What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resource Development Director position at Homeward Bound of WNC Inc?

Purpose:
The Resource Development Director creates and oversees both the annual development and communications plan and the organization’s strategic resource development plan. The director is responsible for planning, execution, and control and evaluation of fundraising, volunteer recruitment and retention, and public relations/marketing activities. Ensures that the development staff and the organization utilize the highest ethical and professional standards and best practices as established by AFP.
Activities and Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Executive Director, serves as liaison to the Board of Directors for private sector resource development and communications, serves as a member of the organization’s senior staff team, and provides staffing for the board’s Resource Development Committee.
- Assists the Executive Director and the Board in strategic planning, in particular with regard to private sector resource development.
- Creates and leads the implementation of an annual development plan with specific goals and outcomes for annual giving, major gifts, constituent giving and volunteer engagement (individuals, faith communities, businesses and corporations, civic organizations, and private foundations).
- Oversees tracking of all in-kind donations values, in particular with regard to the Welcome Home Project.
- Ensures strong donor stewardship program is in place for retention and growth and resource data collection is sufficient for management and reporting.
- Manages resource development staff, including supervision, ensuring that staff have adequate resources to carry out their work, have access to training and continuing education, and that work is conducted in a collaborative and professional manner.
- Oversees and sets goals for staff working with volunteer engagement, including recruitment, placement, supervision, nurture and appreciation, and retention.
- Engages in and coordinates public speaking presentations to constituent groups, in particular businesses, civic and community groups, and faith communities.
- Provides leadership for point-of-entry tours for the organization.
- Works with staff, in particular the Annual Giving Director and the Strategic Gifts Director, to produce Welcome Home, the annual multi-year fundraising event as well as activities of the Key Society.
- Responsible for working with the Executive Director in writing press releases; working with the resource development staff in writing materials for newsletters and annual reports, newsletters, social media and collateral materials, such as brochures, fact sheets, and multi-media presentations.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a passion for the mission of Homeward Bound and the work to end homelessness, a BA/BS degree, a minimum of five years of full-time professional non-profit development work, a proven track record of fundraising success, demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications skills, and experience in staff leadership and supervision. Experience with the Benevon model of fundraising is a plus.

Salary Range: $68,000- $75,000
