Must hold a minimum certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA); or above (LCDC II or III)
Must have an active Driver's License with no DUI/OVI in last 5 years.
PRIMARY FUNCTION/GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The primary responsibility of a CDCA is to monitor the care of the clientele; adhere to specific procedures and coordinate work within a department; comply with all operating policies and procedures; report pertinent information to management; respond to inquiries or requests for information; interact in a courteous, tactful, and cooperative manner; handle issues, complaints, inquiries, and questions; attend all in-service meetings and educational programs. CDCAs are responsible for ensuring the care of our recovering clients.
II. EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such a word processing, file and records management, and other office procedures and terminology.
Continuous; upward and downward flexion of the neck. Frequent: sitting, repetitive use of hands to operate office equipment, walking, reaching above and below shoulder level, and lifting and carrying files weighing up to 45 lbs.

Must be able to relate information regarding a client’s condition.
Clothes washing and cleaning duties as assigned.
Maintaining the nightly check-off list of duties as assigned with accurate record keeping.
Candidate will be assigned an on-call phone after the first 90 days of employment. It will be the responsibility of the On-Call Coordinator to be available for any after hours concerns. This job requirement will only be one week per month.

V. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Individuals in this position are required to exercise standard precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, practice the policies concerning infection control.
Activities are non-sedentary. May be exposed to argumentative people. Must comply with policies and procedures regarding physical and environmental safe.

Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA)
Basic Function: Identify and address client/family needs and concerns who are dependent upon alcohol/drugs; provide assessment, crisis intervention and other services to assist client/family in the treatment process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Treatment Planning
a. Assigning each client a specialized schedule of group and individual counseling.
b. Create goals, both treatment and personal, for clients to achieve.
c. Address areas of concern and how to improve it.
2. Assessments
a. Assessing the level of treatment needed.
b. Gathering information used to make the treatment plan.
c. Determining the best course of action to treat the client.
d. With the client, signing release of information, permission to treat, permission to bill and emergency contact papers.
3. Crisis Intervention
a. Intervening when client is in crisis.
b. Attempt to calm and redirect client in crisis.
c. Refer client to Detox center or residential treatment if needed.
4. Case Management
a. Set up transportation for appointments.
b. Make referrals to qualified doctors.
c. Schedule appointments.
d. Inform client of community resources.
e. Transportation.
5. Individual Counseling
a. Allows client to discuss issues they aren’t ready to talk about in a group.
b. Set goals and work towards them.
c. Help client work through personal barriers.
d. Assist the client in identifying aspects of their lives they want to change.
e. Allows client to work on and discuss his/her 12-step homework.
6. Group Counseling
a. Counseling more than one client at a time.
b. Discuss topics and barriers that affect all addicts.
c. Encourage clients to identify feelings and understand why they feel that way.
7. Community Relations
a. CDCA may be required to participate in marketing of business outside of the office location and outside of normal office hours.
