Long Term Care Nurse Consultant
The nurse consultant plays a vital role on the service team for HomeTown Pharmacy LTC. The position entails routine visits to the facilities we serve and interactions with facility staff and pharmacy management to evaluate and improve on service levels. This requires a committed and dedicated individual with strong communication skills. A thorough knowledge of LTC pharmacy and facility functions is necessary in this position which plays a key part in the success of pharmacy operations.
Work Location: Travel Position - Various Michigan Locations
The job expectations are as follows:
- Be intimately familiar with HomeTown Pharmacy LTC policies and procedures and be able to communicate them to facility staff.
- Be able to develop and deliver in-service presentations (PowerPoint and/or paper) covering a wide range of pharmacy/nursing topics.
- Be able to coordinate IV services for the pharmacy (types of pumps, tubings, etc.). Be able to educate facility staff on IV placement, maintenance and use of pumps or gravity delivery systems.
- Be able to submit reports detailing the specifics of facility visits to the pharmacy manager(s), LTC Specialist and Director of Pharmacy Services. Follow-up on those reports to see that concerns have been adequately addressed.
- Represent HomeTown Pharmacy in the various long term care and nursing associations in Ohio. This includes participation in annual conferences and regional meetings.
- Be an integral part of the HomeTown Pharmacy LTC service team, along with consultant pharmacists, consultant technicians, pharmacy managers, LTC Specialist, and Director of Pharmacy Services. Help to promote and develop excellence in pharmacy service.
- Provide influenza and/or other vaccination clinics in facilities and HomeTown Pharmacy’s as necessary
- Do whatever is deemed necessary for the creation and maintenance of a friendly, caring environment of excellence for both customer and teammates.
- Any additional responsibilities as directed by the LTC Specialist and/or Director of Professional Services-LTC.

Minimum Requirements:
- LPN or RN Designation required; Bachelor’s desired
- 3-5 years nursing experience preferred
- Valid and clean driving license/record
- Schedule and travel flexibility
- Strong computer skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently
