Position Overview: The Third Shift Sanitation Manager is responsible for overseeing the overnight sanitation and operations at the Milton production facility. This role ensures the facility meets all sanitation standards and operational requirements necessary to maintain food safety, quality, and production readiness. This is a 3rd shift position to coordinate the completion of the previous day's production. The Sanitation Manager is expected to coordinate and be accountable for all sanitation activities and ensure an organized restart of production. This is a USDA facility requiring this position's cooperation and planning for daily inspections before restarting operations. Coordinate the availability of raw materials while ensuring the functioning of production machinery is adequate to meet production demands. You will support plant sanitation in the use of chemicals, cleaning processes, sanitation equipment and valve function and design.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the overnight sanitation team to ensure all equipment, tools, and facility areas are cleaned and sanitized according to FDA, USDA, and company standards.
- Develop and execute sanitation schedules and procedures to support daily startup requirements.
- Assure compliance with OSHA regulations and corporate policies.
- Ensure all sanitation processes comply with food safety regulations, GMPs, SSOPs, and HACCP requirements.
- Verify pre-operational inspections are adequately completed and ensure timely corrective actions where needed.
- Maintain documentation and records for audits and compliance (internal and external).
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment during sanitation activities.
- Oversee all third-shift operations including startup/shutdown processes for production equipment and systems.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to ensure seamless shift transitions and operational readiness.
- Coordinate production requirements with maintenance and engineering to ensure plant goals are obtained
- Ensure flow of critical information to all levels and shifts of plant management.
- Troubleshoot operational issues during the shift and provide timely resolution.
- Ensure startup procedures are completed efficiently and accurately to avoid production delays.
- Perform annual performance appraisals for all direct reports and develop key personnel through coaching, training, and organizational development.
- Supervises, coaches, and develops direct reports to help them achieve both corporate and department goals.
- Manages corrective and preventative action (CAPA) process and leads continuous improvement activities.
- Performs all other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience in sanitation and operations within the food manufacturing or processing industry.
- Strong knowledge of sanitation chemicals, methods, and regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, GMP, SSOP, HACCP).
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and overseeing both sanitation and production operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and production/sanitation record-keeping systems.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto).
- Understanding of kosher, halal, organic, and non-GMO documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, databases, and reporting tools.

- Ability to lead, coach, and develop salaried personnel including performing annual performance appraisals for all direct reports and key personnel
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities on an overnight shift.
