Traveling AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel) – Job Description
Position Summary
The Traveling AMAP provides medication administration and direct support services across multiple facility locations or client homes. This role requires travel to various sites based on staffing needs. The Traveling AMAP ensures safe, accurate medication distribution while maintaining high standards of client care, documentation, and communication.
Key Responsibilities
Medication Administration
- Administer prescribed medications following AMAP guidelines and state regulations.
- Verify medication orders, dosages, and schedules for accuracy.
- Monitor clients for medication side effects or changes in condition.
- Document all medication administration activities accurately in required systems.
Client Support
- Assist clients with daily living activities (ADLs) as needed.
- Observe and report changes in client health, behavior, or functioning.
- Provide supportive, respectful, and person-centered care.
Travel & Flexibility
- Travel to multiple program sites or client residences as assigned.
- Adapt to varying team structures, client needs, and facility routines.
- Fill scheduling gaps, emergency coverage, or last-minute staffing needs.
Compliance & Safety
- Maintain AMAP certification and complete ongoing training requirements.
- Follow all organizational policies, state regulations, and medication safety protocols.
- Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Communication & Coordination
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, supervisors, and care teams.
- Report incidents, medication errors, or concerns immediately.
- Participate in team meetings when required, even if off-site.
Qualifications
- Valid AMAP certification (state-approved).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Prior experience in direct care, home health, or residential support preferred.
- Ability to travel frequently and work flexible schedules.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and assist clients as needed.
- Ability to travel between sites in varying weather conditions.
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
