HomeTeam Inspection Service of Charleston is a locally owned, franchised South Carolina home inspection company seeking an experienced, licensed home inspector to work as a 1099 Independent Contractor on a part-time basis in the Tri-County (Charleston-area) market.
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and licensed Home Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating residential properties to ensure they meet safety, quality, and building standards. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, quality control, and inspection techniques. The Licensed Home Inspector will play a vital role in providing clients with comprehensive assessments and reports, supporting informed decision-making for property transactions and maintenance.
Duties
- Conduct thorough inspections of residential properties, including structural elements, systems, and components
- Assess the condition of roofing, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC units, and foundation integrity
- Utilize blueprint reading and schematics to evaluate construction plans and site layouts
- Collect detailed data during inspections using standardized checklists and digital tools
- Identify issues related to construction quality, safety hazards, or code violations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports outlining findings, recommendations, and necessary repairs
- Communicate inspection results clearly to clients, real estate agents, and contractors
- Ensure all inspections comply with local regulations, building codes, and industry standards
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction practices, materials, and inspection techniques
Requirements
- Valid Home Inspector license in accordance with state regulations
- Minimum of 2 years residential inspection experience in construction, quality control, or construction inspection fields
- Knowledge of construction site operations
- Excellent data collection skills with attention to detail for accurate reporting
- Ability to assess construction quality through visual inspection and technical evaluation
- Operate as a 1099 independent contractor
- Strong proficiency with inspection software, mobile devices, and technology
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Relevant certifications in construction inspection or related fields are preferred
