Position Summary:

We’re looking for a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable data pipelines and analytics-ready models in a Microsoft Fabric environment. This role will play a foundational part in shaping Homestyle Direct’s data platform, ultimately owning ingestion, transformation, and data quality while partnering closely with analytics, sales, finance, and operations to ensure trusted, actionable data across the business.

You’ll help define engineering standards, improve data reliability, and evolve our modern ELT stack as we scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and operate batch/streaming ELT pipelines from multiple source systems.
  • Develop modular, well-tested SQL and dbt models (staging → marts) aligned to warehouse best practices.
  • Implement data quality checks, monitoring, lineage, and alerting; investigate and resolve data issues.
  • Optimize SQL and storage for cost and performance (speed, compute consumption, complexity).
  • Collaborate with analytics, finance, ops, and product to translate requirements into robust data models.
  • Contribute to CI/CD for data (code reviews, environments, tests, automated deployments).
  • Document pipelines, datasets, and KPIs; promote reusability and standards across the stack.
  • Support governance and security for PII/PHI (row/column-level controls, auditability).

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Python - 3 years professional experience: data workflows, automation, validation
  • SQL - 3 years professional experience: complex transformations, window functions, CTEs, performance tuning, and analytics use cases
  • dbt - 2 years professional experience: seeds, tests, exposures, macros preferred
  • Strong understanding of ELT patterns, data orchestration concepts, and incremental processing
  • Familiarity with data warehousing standards: star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, fact and dimensional modeling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing data quality frameworks (dbt tests, source freshness, reconciliation, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric concepts: Lakehouse, Warehouses, Delta/Parquet, capacity-based cost considerations
  • Experience writing notebooks and pipelines using either Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or similar
  • Experience supporting finance, billing, or ERP data (orders, invoices, inventory, AR/AP)
  • Exposure to CI/CD for data platforms, including environment promotion and versioned deployments
  • Comfort working in small, fast-moving teams with high ownership and minimal bureaucracy

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary in the range of $110,000 - $130,000 annually.
  • Competitive benefits package including health insurance, generous PTO, and 401(k) match
  • Opportunity to work with a collaborative, innovative executive team.
  • A mission-driven company dedicated to making a positive impact on our clients’ lives.
