Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Support medication administration under supervision or as permitted by state regulations, adhering strictly to HIPAA guidelines and aseptic techniques.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy, and wound dressing in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care settings like Level I Trauma Centers or ICU units to deliver patient-centered care in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or surgical units.
- Maintain a safe environment by following proper infection control practices and operating equipment like Hoyer lifts safely during patient transfers.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery across inpatient, outpatient, or home & community care settings.
Experience
- Prior experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including Level II trauma centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate documentation of patient records and medical history.
- Experience providing specialized care for populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients or individuals with disabilities is advantageous.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to patient assessment and treatment procedures.
- Hands-on experience with medical-surgical nursing tasks such as vital signs monitoring, medication administration, aseptic technique practices, and catheter care.
- Familiarity with caring for patients requiring complex interventions like ICU or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) experience is a plus.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or other relevant certifications required by healthcare regulations to ensure readiness for emergency situations.
