Job Summary
Homestead Inspection Service is expanding into the Ohio market and is onboarding independent Home Inspectors / Property Field Inspectors in Cleveland, Akron, and Columbus.
Homestead operates with a technology-driven inspection platform, leveraging Inspectify’s state-of-the-art inspection workflow together with ISN (Inspection Support Network) CRM for scheduling, dispatching, reporting, and client communication. Inspectors receive assignments through the platform and can accept jobs based on their availability and service area.
This opportunity is ideal for experienced home inspectors, but it can also fit contractors, property professionals, or technically skilled individuals who understand residential systems and can confidently document property conditions.
The role is flexible and project-based, allowing inspectors to accept assignments when it works for their schedule.
Typical Assignment Types
Assignments may include:
- Residential home inspections (for qualified inspectors)
- Construction progress / draw inspections
- Occupancy and property condition checks
- Rent-ready property evaluations
- Photo and media documentation assignments
- Roof condition documentation when required
Inspectors complete the scope of work (photos, observations, notes) and upload deliverables through the platform within the required turnaround time.
Key Responsibilities
- Accept or decline assignments based on availability and service area
- Travel to properties and complete inspection scope professionally
- Capture clear interior and exterior photos and documentation
- Identify and document observable deficiencies with supporting evidence
- Follow inspection scope and workflow instructions precisely
- Maintain professional communication regarding access or safety issues
- Submit inspection documentation accurately and on time through the platform
Requirements (Mandatory)
Working knowledge of residential home systems and inspection fundamentals
Ability to identify and clearly document observable deficiencies
- Ability to safely access or document roof conditions when required
- Smartphone for mobile workflow and photo documentation
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel locally
- Ability to work independently and follow structured inspection protocols
- Strong attention to detail and professional communication
Safety: Inspectors must operate within safe conditions. If a roof or component cannot be safely accessed, the limitation must be documented according to inspection protocol.
Preferred Qualifications
- InterNACHI certification or equivalent inspection training
- Prior residential home inspection experience
- Experience with property condition reporting or construction progress inspections
- Familiarity with mobile inspection workflows and reporting software
- Ability to document roof systems and exterior conditions
If Ohio licensing requirements apply, an active home inspector license is strongly preferred.
Compensation
Compensation is per assignment and varies depending on inspection type and scope.
Typical earnings range between $25 – $125 per hour equivalent, depending on job complexity and volume.
Payments are processed every 15 days (1099 contractor payment).

Independent Contractor Notice

Inspectors must provide their own:
- Vehicle
- Smartphone
- Standard field tools (including ladder capability when roof access is required)
Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and business expenses unless otherwise specified.
